We finally did it. Finally we spent time with the children at the home. Finally fulfilled a wish of Yutang. Kakis Family turned up in full force (well...almost full force)to help out for this charity event.
The day started at the swimming pool at guat's place. The gals helped out to pack out the goodie bags, while the guys are briefed by Michael on the games. I had a sun-burnt back. Nah, i wasnt there in a bikini suntanning by the pool. Instead i had the burn while packing the stuffs under the hot afternoon sun. Didnt know how bad it was till i got home. Till now, i still have the tanlines, think skin will be peeling pretty soon. gheez.
Had a quick lunch at FeiFei. All 3 tables of us. And its time for us to make our moves to Serangoon gardens.
As we arrived, the children started gathering at the canteen area where we had plenty of space to interact with them. The kids are ultra friendly. They would hug you or hold your hands. We started by writing their names on masking tape. Had abit of trouble with that, as we could not spell their names or they were really soft-spoken and we could hardly hear what they were saying. Some of them were pretty young (and cute), you cant help but to stand beside them and protect them. The guys went to play captain's ball with the older children while the gals stayed with the younger children. We were supposed to introduce ourselves to the children, but it seemed almost impossible to gain their attention. They started shouting, running around... Got abit lost on what to do, while michael tries to settle them down. But still, we had lots of fun and laughter with the adorable children.
Slippers (thanks to Yutang and ah small) were given out to the children. Many were excited with their new shoes, YuTang would be so happy so see the smiles on their faces.110.jpg)
Dinner time! Kakis group stood by the buffet table where they helped to scoop food for the children. I kept myself busy by helping out 2 cute brothers with their food. Cut the food into smaller pieces and refilled their plates.
Nancy gathered everyone after dinner at the basketball court. We gave out the goodie bags. Realised that a few children were left out, and thus the gals scrambled to make a few bags with whatever we could find.
After saying goodbye to the children, and some photo takeing (Thanks Faith, we took wonderful pics for us) Kakis Group had their dinner from the leftover buffet. Continued by beer at Toa payoh. Been some time since i drank so much beer man.
Thoughts of the day: Really had a wonderful but exhausting day with the children. Really respect the Nancy and others who devote their time to the home. Would love to spend more time with the children. Infact kakis group are thinking of visiting them again.
